At Bend Lifestyle, we use a non-traditional sizing system to avoid labeling bodies as "small", "medium" or "large". These types of labels may or may not have value judgements associated with them for an individual. Instead, we utilize objective measurements in inches, allowing you as the wearer to determine how you want a garment to fit your body.
Width refers to the measurement from left to right side of the garment that will cover the torso, hips, or widest part of the body the garment will cover. When taking your measurement, do not include the shoulders.
Length refers to the measurement from top to bottom of the garment. When taking your measurement, do not include the feet.
If your torso width measurement is equal to the width shirt size, the shirt will be fitted on your body.
If your torso width measurement is less than the width shirt size, the shirt will be oversized on your body.
If your leg length measurement is greater than the length pants size, the pants will be short on your body.
If your leg length measurement is equal to the length pants size, the pants will be to your ankles.
TL/DR: To determine the proper size to order, take your length and width measurements for the part of the body the garment will cover. If you want the garment to be fitted, order the size equal to your measurements. If you want the garment to be oversized, order a size greater than your measurements.
